I have been obsessed with boudoir photography pretty much since post-lockdown, when restrictions were lifted and we could be around people again. Since then I have been trying to figure out where I fit into the genre (and within the realm of photography in general). It bugged me that I was either photographing portraits or boudoir. Surely there had to be something in between that was more than just a portrait or only boudoir.

Enter the term “Sensual portraits”. I found this term through an article that featured Aleksandra Walker and her sensual portrait photography. I got a jolt of electricity through me reading that article and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for days afterwards. “THIS IS IT! This is what I have been looking for but couldn’t visualise or put into words. This is the kind of photography I want to be doing!”.

Sensual portraits (to me) are portraits of women that empower them to live their truest, most beautiful life. Portraits that when my clients leave the studio they are thinking “I really did that! And I had so much fun! I am capable of doing flippen scary things. And hot daaaymn I am beautiful and powerful.”. This can be anything from portrait photography to personal branding photos to boudoir and anything in between.

So after 3 years of being completely in love with and obsessed with the art of boudoir photography, I now introduce to you “Sensual Portraits”. My new baby and something I hope to be doing a lot more of in 2024.

It makes my heart so happy to know people who trust in my vision who will step in front of my lens to help make it come to life. It was such a great afternoon in studio with plenty of laughs, dance parties, lots of bubbles and Laurie leaving feeling a reminder of the love for herself and the vessel that carries her incredibly precious soul around this world, just as it is.
