Boudoir photography of an anonymous woman with brown, curly hair in studio in Cape Town, South Africa

I have been photographing boudoir for almost three years now. I have always photographed portraits, in fact, that is how I first got my camera. I had just finished school and wanted to take photos of people to draw. I got a loan from my Dad for my first camera and the rest is history.

How I got into photographing boudoir is another story all together.

I love shooting portraits. When I moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town I got into photographing model portfolios. It is what I had seen on social media while in Joburg and I wanted to photograph the beautiful people, outfits and locations in Cape Town that I had seen so many times that looked so great in photos.

Then Covid and lockdown hit. I was confined to my flat and needed to think of ways of making a living from that space. When we had the all clear to be around people again I started doing shoots in the flat so boudoir was a logical place to start.

After lockdown I did one lingerie shoot with one of the models I had photographed a few times before and I fell in love with the images and art form of boudoir photography. Since then I have been putting a more intentional focus on boudoir and women empowerment photography. Ultimately I want to take photos of women that make them feel good about themselves and that empower them to live their best life imaginable, whatever way that may look like.

I now have a studio in Woodstock, and I still use the one in Wynberg that I started off in. And every shoot that I do I put my all into to get images that inspire my clients to see themselves in a way that they may never have seen themselves before. And most of them come back singing songs of praise for the process, how they felt on the day, and for days, weeks, months and years to come.

I have found a love for what do and I am completely obsessed with it.

Below are the pictures of a client who did the shoot as a gift for her husband (and herself) for their 10 year anniversary. And they both loved the images. The below is a testimonial from her that sums up how they both felt about the images:

……….

“I was unsure of what to expect but really wanted great images to share with my husband as an anniversary gift. Kat managed to exceed my expectations above and beyond. I really enjoy watching my husband each time I send him one of the pics. He can’t wait for it and keeps asking me for the next one. We’re both very impressed.

As someone who would hardly be seen in bikini bottoms on the beach, this was a major step to take. Kat made me feel so comfortable in my skin, and the results are dreamy. I’ve never seen myself looking so beautiful!”

……….

Thank you so much for trusting me to take these photos for you. May you look back on them in the years to come and know that you are beautiful, strong and capable of whatever you put your mind to.
